Back in league action this week at home to Hemel Aces.
A starting line up of Emily in goal with a back three of Christina, Edith and Gabi behind Olivia and Roshini in midfield. The front three were Elizabeth, Lauren and Megan. Subs were Bea G, Bea T, Eva and Violet.
Despite the thick fog, the girls had a bright start when Olivia cleared the ball to Elizabeth on the right wing. Her cross was heading for Roshini to tap in but a Hemel defender just managed to block the cross.
Despite the defence looking in control on 7 minutes they were caught out by a fine ball played wide and the resulting cross was turned in to make it 1-0 to the visitors.
Three minutes later good work from Megan forced a corner which she took. A late run into the area by Edith saw her smash the ball into the net to equalise.
The girls looked comfortable and Eva joined the defence which was being well marshalled by Christina with challenges and decent clearances from all three.
A lovely piece of link up play between Megan and Roshini ended with a pass to Lauren who forced a smart save from the keeper.
The kick out from the keeper only went as far as Bea T who sent a crossfield ball to Lauren for another saved shot.
This was followed by a long range shot from Eva following a lay off from Bea G.
Up the other end, Emily was forced to make a great save and then helped by the post. The three Weetabix for breakfast meant her kicks were flying to start attacks.
On 19 minutes a long ball from the Hemel defence reached a striker who put them 2-1 up.
The girls kept going and Edith soon played a ball up the right wing for Lauren but her shot went wide.
A free kick from Bea G was blocked by the wall was followed by a ball upfield which Violet chased and pressed the keeper well.
Another clearance upfield from Eva saw Violet press again and this time the keeper could only clear the ball to Megan who instinctively hit a left foot shot to equalise again.
Olivia received a Hemel free kick and shot just wide. Emily was forced into an amazing double save following a high ball which deceived the defence.
There was just time before the break for Bea T to put a long range free kick just wide.
So 2-2 at the break with the fog lifting.
A trio of corners from Megan early in the half saw chances come but not converted. Another saved chance came from Bea T which was followed by a clearance from Gabi to Bea G who passed to Roshini who found Elizabeth who forced another save from the keeper.
Despite the pressure it was Hemel who retook the lead getting to the ball first from a corner.
The girls were straight on the attack again with Lauren forcing another save from the keeper.
Emily was forced to make another couple of fine saves of her own.
It was end to end and Roshini was next to have a shot just go wide.
There was still time for some lovely link up play between Megan and Bea G but sadly no third equaliser.
A solid performance from the girls with enough creativity to see the positives and progress being made.
