The U13 Girls North were away to Harefield in a division one league match.

A starting line up of Emily in goal with Edith, Eva and Gabi in defence. Christina and Olivia were in midfield behind a front three of Bea T, Elizabeth and Megan. Subs were Bella, Lauren, Roshini and Violet.

The girls started well with the first five minutes played mainly in the Harefield half with Edith, Eva and Gabi winning the ball on halfway to nullify any potential attacks enabling attacking play but with no clear cut chances created.

Harefield began to attack and forced a corner which the girls dealt with well and cleared.

Both teams were attacking and defending well with Emily making saves where required.

Olivia won the ball in midfield playing it into the Harefield penalty area where Elizabeth pressed resulting in a shot from Megan which was saved.

Unfortunately the keeper’s kick upfield created a chance for Harefield which Emily saved but the opposition were quicker to react to the rebound and scored on 16 minutes.

The girls continued to press forward and a speculative effort from Eva tested the keeper.

Another attack from Harefield but this one hit the crossbar. The girls were up the other end straight away with Roshini sliding a perfect pass to Lauren whose shot just went wide.

On 25 minutes Emily used her long kick to create a chance for Megan which the keeper got a hand to and the ball continued to roll towards the goal but unfortunately a defender cleared it off the line.

Emily was called upon before half time to make another save and in the last minute Bella knocked the ball into the penalty area but the keeper was first to it.

An early corner in the second half but the strong wind didn’t help. Eight minutes into the second half Roshini played a cross field ball which Elizabeth touched back to Lauren who shot testing the keeper.

A couple of minutes later, Bea chased a long ball from Gabi but the keeper picked it up but was it just outside her area?

Another couple of great saves from Emily followed in this end to end match.

A quick short corner between Megan and Eva caught Harefield out but it was cleared. Another corner soon after which was cleared to Lauren just outside the area. Her shot was parried but only into the path of Megan who scored the equaliser on 47 minutes.

Minutes later and Bea was stopped in her tracks by a shirt pull. The Harefield wall blocked the resulting free kick.

Christina and Violet controlled the midfield with attacks coming from each team. Edith continued her battling defensive work.

With four minutes to go a mix up at the back allowed Harefield to take the lead.

The girls pressed forward again but were caught out by a breakaway and the final kick of the match made it 3-1.
