U14 Girls lose to Ruislip

Richard Thornton12 Apr - 21:54

No fun in the sun.

The U14 Girls were hosting Ruislip Rangers in the league on a hot sunny morning.

With Alana away Poppy kindly started in goal with a back four of Bella, Diya, Ruby and Zara. The midfield three was Alexia, Lucy and Phoebe with a front three of Isabelle, Lexi and Scarlett. Alice and Elina were subs.

An even start with shared possession saw Isabelle and Lexi have early chances blocked or saved. Ruislip then created their own chances which Poppy dealt with comfortably both saving and gathering the ball in the penalty area.

Once again the girls pressed forward with Phoebe winning tackle after tackle in midfield. A chance for Scarlett again saved by the keeper. Diya and Zara were seeing plenty of the ball and pushing forward looking to start attacks. Bella as usual was tidying things up at the back.

Alexia and Isabelle teamed up well down the left and forced the first corner. Lexi swung it in with her usual accuracy and it was cleared to Ruby who found Scarlett who turned but her shot was just wide.

Another good passage of play starting with Zara winning the ball and finding Lucy who played the ball back to Alexia who then moved it wide to Isabelle for another shot which the keeper saved.

The keeper’s kick was intercepted by Phoebe who calmly passed to Lucy who cleverly flicked the ball to Scarlett to shoot but sadly just over the bar.

On 22 minutes the visitors went 1-0 up with a fortunate goal which beat Poppy and a desperate Diya was unable to clear it off the line.

Once again came Alice and Elina for Lexi and Lucy. Alice straight into the battle winning challenges in midfield. The girls continued to push forward and Alexia found Isabelle but her shot was saved again.

A long ball upfield from Ruislip was won by their striker who made it 2-0 on 28 minutes. A Ruby goal kick found Alexia who spun and played the ball forward for Elina and Scarlett to link up.

A change at half time with Elina dropping into defence, Diya going in goal with Poppy at her usual left back. Lexi was backpack up front. Elina was straight into the action winning a challenge and starting an attack.

Unfortunately it was 3-0 on 38 minutes when a goal kick was intercepted by Ruislip and a long shot went in off the post.

Six minutes later it was 4-0 when possession was lost in our half and Ruislip scored. Either side of the goal came shots from Lexi to test the keeper. Elina was working hard at right back and winning the battle against the Ruislip winger.

Two further goals came from crosses and flicked volleys. The another from a good shot from wide on the left. Straight from the kick off Ruislip won the ball and scored again.

A consolation goal came in the final minute when Elina won the ball in midfield and found Lexi on halfway, a lovey pass out wide to Scarlett who charged into the penalty area before cutting back to give her space for the lobbed shot over the keeper to make the final score 8-1.
