A Spring in Our step

Finally some sunny spring weather to go with the hot football being played in our league.

Watfords first visit to us and a pleasure to host John and the team. The game was a real gem today. We started well and Eda was hungry for goals today. 3 minutes in and she fired a rocket that went right through the netting, this was to be the first of several from that power house right foot of hers. Well done to a brave watford goalie for standing up to these, she was a superb and very acrobatic keeper. Eda was not only scoring but laying on Anna and Amelia who were solid in the middle. Anna found the right position numerous times with superb awareness of the game and it was only great goalkeeping that denied her today.

So into the second half and along comes El Cazo, she was up and down the wing, drawing players out and putting in the most perfect crosses. Where these didn't result in a goal, Cazo would press in, shimmy left and right and we knew what would happen next. Yes, the classic El Cazo volley into the top corner. Brilliant play today and truly great football. A mention here to Eva, solid goalkeeping as always and matched the Watford goalie save for save. Well done Eva, our defence were totally confident with you behind them. Second half and Watford showed why they are called Harts, because they played their Harts out and with Hope in goal there was no chance of saving some of those shots. Great reading of the game though hope and coming out to meet those interceptions was perfect. Amelia then took centre back and what a terrier with the ball, one, two three players she went through and created some lovely chances.

Today was perfect football both weather wise and true grit and skill. A massive well done to both sides and thanks to Rebecca Mcshane for stepping in as last minute referee and her mentoring to all the girls.
