Good run continues for U14 South

U14 South took on the undefeated HMH Dynamo, away, in the WFL Green division and inflicted the first defeat of the season on the hosts.
With this 4th straight win in the league, South are now starting to make progress into the top half of the league table with games in hand on those above.

Recent signings and hard work in training have made South a much more resilient team and they battled really well to hold on to a first half lead.

All the goals came in the first 35 minutes. First to score was Luca, taking advantage of a goal-keeping blunder in the first minute after a long shot from Archie. We then went 2-0 up within 10 mins as Archie extended the lead. South were very much in control of the game at this point, with HMH trying to play in the break but firmly pressed into their own half. 2 quick HMH goals levelled the score before the half hour mark, the first was fortunate as a breakaway attack forced Harrison into a excellent save, pushing the ball up and onto the cross bar, only to see it rebound back into the path of the HMH striker who was quick to slot home. The game looked set to be level at half time, until Jack got onto an excellent pass from Luca and moved South back into the lead before the half time whistle.

The second half was the reverse of the first half. HMH regrouped and attacked in numbers, winning the midfield battle and forcing South to defend deeper and deeper. It was now the turn of South to play on the break and despite several excellent chances and HMH so nearly scoring an own goal after excellent pressing from the South forwards, we couldn't quite make the game safe and had to work very hard to keep HMH from scoring again.
