U13 South V HMH Dynamos

Our first PM kick off of the season also brought with it our first victory, alebit in the league.

This was the first game this season where we had 11 players available to start the game, leaving us no room for injury or tired heads from late nights. Thankfully, all the boys who were available turned up both physically and mentally.

HMH Dynamo were a good match for the inexperienced U13 South team and after a slow start we found ourselves behind after 10 mins, but Jason opened his scoring account for the season by quickly netting an equaliser from Dan's long drop kick which bounced over the HMH Midfield and presented Jason with a 1 on 1 opportunity that he converted. Just before the halftime whistle HMH were back in front after some defensive confusion, allowng a goal mouth scramble to result in a goal.

Harvesters came out in the 2nd half fully ready to take the fight to HMH. The central midfield trio of Max W, Max G and Josh worked hard to keep possession and Josh scored his first goal for the South team, slotting home from a Michael through-ball to get us back to 2-2. Harvesters were now playing the better football and starting to pass the ball freely, but a loose ball in midfield allowed the HMH striker to go clear and made it 3-2 with 15 minutes to go.

Michael then stepped up. His first goal was a wide angled cross that took the keeper by suprise and floated over his head to make it 3-3 and then a collectors item with a headed winning goal from Michael after Luca's strong knock-on header in the last 2 minutes secured the 3 points for the home team.
