Well, nice to be back playing and nice that I am only commenting on the football. After the events of two weeks before, the boys took on a Colney Blues team whom we had beaten 3-2 earlier in the season but in a very close game which could have gone either way.
To be fair, the first half was not our best. Apart from an early snapshot from Sam which didn't really trouble their keeper, Colney pushed us back and we resorted to hoofing the ball forwards instead of trying to keep possession. We were indebted to a stalwart back line of Louis, Stan and George G for keeping it to nil at half time, plus a very good save from Josh. Totally against the run of play, as half time loomed, Cimi fizzed a ball across the Box from a free kick and it struck a Colney hand. To many people's surprise, the ref deemed it a penalty but although George E hit a good ball from the spot their tall keeper made a good save. 1-0 would have flattered us in all truth.
Second half was a different story. Harvesters came out refreshed and bossed the game. Oscar played a great ball with the outside of his foot which arced over the Colney defence and Cim did really well to hold off their defender and get a shot away - just past the post but close. The less said about the aerial volley the better though eh Cim?
We started playing neat triangles and George E, Brad and Alex were pushing forwards at every opportunity. Clear chances were still at a premium but we did enough to suggest we could have won the game. We will get a chance to do so next week as we play the same team again.
Josh was MOM but the main thing was that the game was played in a good spirit which far outweighs the result on the field.
