Harvesters Wildcats v Omonia Youth Gold

The first match of the 2018/19 season saw Harvesters Wildcats U10’s play against Omonia Youth Gold U10’s.

The first half saw Harvesters Wildcats dominate possession for large periods with the Omonia Youth goalkeeper making a string of fine saves to deny Joshua Seeby, Sam Rodea and Sam Fullbrook.

The deadlock was broken by debutant Sam Rodea following a flowing move which started with a pass out from the back by Jack Wakeling to Theo Thompson on the wing who then found Sam Rodea in the box who finished low to the goalkeepers left.

When the opposition threatened to counter attack they were met at the back by Rhys Kerner and Dylan Woods with some good tackles and interceptions.

Anish Tresise was untroubled for much of the first half in goal, however what he did have to do he done very well with some excellent distribution to the full backs.

Just before half-time Sam Rodea doubled the lead with his second with another low finish after a good run from the half way line and a nice one two with Sam Fullbrook.

The second half was slightly less one sided due to the positional changes that were made to give the boys a chance to play in different positions.

Anish now out of goal and in central midfield was energetic and playing some good passes to the Matthew Philips and Louis Hann on the right and left of midfield respectively.

It didn’t take long before there was another goal, this time Anish’s persistence to win the ball back paid off with a good run and shot which beat the goalkeeper, although he may have to work on that celebration!

Another good move saw Louis Hann get on the score sheet with a true poachers’ goal by following up a low shot which was initially saved by the goalkeeper for a nice tap in.

The final 15 minutes saw Omonia Gold get back into the match, and with some sustained pressure managed to pull a goal back after a good save by Jack Wakeling. Jack was then called into action a few times and made some fantastic saves, however Omonia Gold’s pressure paid off again with another goal which Jack had no chance with.

A good all-round team performance and all the boys should be really proud of how they played against good opposition.[/size]
