Leopards vs Pumas

On Sunday morning, the Leopards played their friends, the Pumas for the 3rd time this season.
The Pumas started of brightly and this continued for the game, putting in a good performance. The Leopards started slowly and took a while to settle into their way of playing. Tyler in goal for the Pumas was inspired and made two wonderful saves before he was finally beaten by a miss hit shot from George Small, with the assist from Milo Hegarty. The game was close and being fought out in the midfield. Finally the Leopards got the ball wide and once again Milo found George in space on the outside of the box, exactly what they had been doing in training the day before! George took a touch, got his head up, and placed the ball into the top corner. Arms aloft you could see he enjoyed it.
The Leopards had their tales up and were starting to pass the ball around nicely. The third was goal of the season and deserved the applause it received from all watching. Daniel Austin played the ball into the midfield where George and Milo linked up, before involving Harris Young. The ball was worked from midfield to the right and forward, each time either one or two touches with some wonderful combination play, and just as you thought it couldn’t get any better, there was a triangle between the 3 before Harris slotted the ball home first time. To say it was like Barcelona is not an under estimation and to see a bunch of U9s play in that way was a pleasure to witness and a credit to them.
The second half was not that dissimilar to the first, with the Pumas putting in some nice passing moves in midfield. The 4th Leopards goal came from out on the wing. Harris playing on the left wing received the ball and played a cross field ball to Milo who was in space. Milo picked the ball up halfway inside the Pumas half, using his pace there was no way he was going to be caught and placed a good shoot past Tyler. The Pumas pressed for a goal and Ethan hit the cross bar from a shot outside the box. The final Leopards goal came from the boot of Jonah Howgego after the inform Milo set him up. Once again like the 4th it was a good finish from Jonah.
Although it was the end of the goals, there were still two further chances, one for each team. Tyler made a truly wonderful save from Jack Horne and then the Pumas Captain Felix, hit a shot from the halfway line just over the crossbar.
Well done to Daniel McKinstry for keeping his 5th clean sheet.
Like the previous two fixtures, once the final whistle had gone, all players shook hands and were smiling.
Well done to both teams.
