Windswept Leopards

For the second Sunday in a row, the Leopards were in the parish of Alexandra Park. This time to play the South on a windswept pitch and with a cafe that were purveyors of good coffee! Daniel Mckinstry was missing in goal due to illness so Samuel O'Hare stepped in between the sticks for the 1st half. Playing a different formation for the first time this season, the boys did well to adapt and familiarise themselves with their new roles. Jack Horne playing centre forward did well, but it was Milo Hegerty who scored the first of seven goals for the Leopards after Harris Young played a ball down the wing to George Small who dribbled into the box and crossed it low to Milo. George was fouled in the box and took the subsequent penalty only for the keeper to make a good save. Jonah Howgego got his first of two after placing the ball into the bottom corner from a George assist. The Leopards played very well in the 1st half considering the strength of the wind and slope against them. 2nd half the boys rotated positions and played with the wind behind them. Daniel Austin took over the duties of goalkeeper. The Leopards 3rd goal came from Harris who beat 3 opponents with Hazard like skills before scoring. Sam got his 14th of the season after Harris passed the ball to Sam who was just inside the box before calmly scoring. A few moments later the Leopards were awarded another penalty after a handball. George was brave enough to pick the ball up after his 1st half miss and blasted the penalty into the top corner. Jonah got his 8th of the season after winning back the ball in the final 3rd, then dribbling with it before scoring from the edge of the box. The biggest applause of the day came when Michael Bird scored his first of the season. Michael playing centre midfield, ghosting into the box like Frank Lampard and finished beautifully from a Jonah pull back. Well done to all of the boys for their commitment to position rotation.
