Leopards

On a warm Septembers morning, the Leopards lined up against an unbeaten and buoyant Edgware Town. The Leopards quickly got into the game and played their game but found themselves behind to a physically strong team. Despite trying hard the Leopards could not get past the last line of defenders in green and white. A second goal soon followed and the boys faced an uphill task to get back into the game. Finally just before half time, the boys hard efforts got their rewards as Milo used his pace down the wing to beat a defender before pulling the ball back as practiced in training the day before for Sam to calmly and coolly score his 6th goal of the season. The boys set themselves a target of 2 goals for the 2nd half and went out ready to start. The boys standing up to their more physical opponents when required and making some fine tackles. Dan in goal kept the Leopards in the game before Michael calmly took the ball out of defence before playing a beautiful through ball to Jonah up front. Jonah controlled the ball on the half way line, before using his strength to hold off the defenders and fire the ball past the keeper from the edge of the box. The boys tails were up and each one did their bit to keep Edgware out, in particular Dan who made 2 fantastic point blank saves ( one with his nose he later told his team mates). As the game went on and Dan kept Edgware at bay, a draw was looking good. That was until George made a tackle in the midfield and ran with the ball and rifling it past the keeper into the top of the net from outside the box. There was only time for the kick off before the ref blew for the final whistle. All of the boys deserved this victory and well done to MOTM, Dan McKinstry
