U14 Girls draw with Potters Bar
By Richard Thornton
First dropped points but still top of the table
Harvesters U14 Girls got off to an excellent start in the freezing wind when on 3 minutes Eliza Telford played a through ball to Hollie Thornton who flicked it around the defender before firing home low and hard beyond the keeper.
There followed 5 crazy minutes starting with a Potters Bar equaliser straight from the kick off. One minute later it was 2-1 to Harvesters when Eliza Telford scored from a Ruby Evans cross.
Pressing from the next kick off saw Mia Pullan pass the ball up the left to Katie Leigh who laid it off to Hollie Thornton whose shot rebounded to the waiting Katie Leigh to make it 3-1. Unfortunately it was 3-2 on 8 minutes when the ball wasn’t cleared and Potters Bar scored.
No more goals before half time but the girls passed the ball around well and looked in control with the occasional break from Potters Bar.
The second half started well but the possession was not converted into goals and on 42 minutes the girls were caught napping and allowed an equaliser at 3-3.
Despite continued pressure to the end of the match Harvesters couldn’t find the winner and dropped their first points of the season.
