Harvesters U13 East started the game against Norsemen sluggishly and conceded two unnecessary goals early on to make the rest of the game a real uphill battle. Both goals from the away team were scrappy affairs, coming from corners that really should have been dealt with better.
Despite the start Harvesters worked themselves back into the game playing some great football. They created a number of chances with some excellent passing moves. In the end the hard work paid off as the ball was moved from one end of the pitch to the other and the chance finished off by James Heppenstall. Harvesters completely dominated the rest of the half but just on the stroke of half time a lob into the box wasn't dealt with properly by Harvesters and Norsemen sneaked in to make it 1 -3 at the break.
In the 2nd half the visitors stepped up their game and caused more problems as the half went on. But Harvesters were not going to be intimidated by the physically stronger opponents and dug in deep to stay in the game. The on about 55 minutes Harvesters were awarded a corner, the ball was cleared just outside the box, and from about 20 yards Owen O'Sullivan hit a perfectly placed shot into the corner of the net. 2 - 3 and Harvesters were back in it!
In the final period of the game the football became a bit more scruffy with both teams desperate to score the next goal.
Unfortunately it went to Norsemen with a few minutes to play. The final score was 2 - 4 but Owen O'Sullivan will be dining out on that strike for some tike to come!!
