Harvesters U13 East put in a brave performance but just couldn't do enough to stop St Albans Rangers scoring and eventually running out 2 nil winners.
The pitch was very heavy and it didn't lend itself to free flowing football. But the boys battled incredibly well for the entire 70 minutes and played some nice football when they could. Despite being under pressure for the whole of the first half, the defence, Oscar Tansley in particular, continually denied the opposition the breakthrough they were looking for.
With the score 0-0 at half time the boys were growing in confidence.
For the first 15 minutes of the 2nd half Harvesters started to get on top and created a number of chances that they just couldn't convert. At the same time St Albans Rangers frustrations continued as Oscar denied them time and again.
Eventually the luck ran out as a blocked shot dropped to the feet of the St Albans attacker and he made it one nil.
The boys kept battling but the game was put to bed with a fantastic strike from St Albans Rangers with 15 minutes left.
Despite not winning the game the boys should be proud of the way they adapted to the conditions and the fact that they battled hard for the whole 70 minutes against a physically stronger side.
