The Under 13 East got the year off to a good start with a 4 -3 win away at Enfield.
The conditions were not easy as the pitch was very bumpy and the recent wet conditions made the ball very heavy. Despite this the boys tried hard to play the ball around and produced some decent football in patches considering the conditions.
Enfield took the lead after Oscar made a great save but the ball dropped straight to the Enfield striker to put the ball away.
But within a few minutes Harvesters equalised. After some good work from Sam and James the ball arrived at the far post for Mahin to score for the 2nd game in a row.
Then, a classic case of being at your most vulnerable when you've just scored, Enfield scored within 20 seconds of the re-start to re-claim the lead.
Harvesters came back again, and on 28 minutes Cam first hit a shot with his right foot that was saved, but then improvised and hit a sweet left footed volley to put away the re-bound.Enfield bounced back again after some very sloppy defending from a corner to draw level at 3 - 3.
After the break Harvesters began to dominate and Max Smith in particular became increasingly influential in midfield.
Harvesters then nudged 3 - 2 in front after Will was put clean through and he slipped the ball under the oncoming Enfield keeper.
Harvesters were not finished though and with about 15 minutes remaining Max weaved through the Enfield back line and calmly slotted the ball home.
There was still time for Enfield to have a fourth goal disallowed for offside. Pleasingly the boys were determined not to throw away the lead and collectively dug in and competing all over the pitch in the last 10 minutes to claim a deserved and hard fought 4 - 3 victory.
