U13 East put in a strong performance to end the year on a high and halt a 5 game losing streak. This was a really good all round display with everyone contributing to the result,
St Albans City were at their strongest in the first 20 minutes but the boys dealt with most of the pressure very well. Bobby, Joe B and Joe K were excellent in defence. St Albans sneaked a goal mid way through the half but the boys response was very positive with Cam, Will and James creating lots of half chances. Eventually they got their just rewards when Cam was fouled in the box and Bobby calmly converted from the spot.
At half time the score was 1 - 1 and the game was set up for one of the teams to take the initiative in the 2nd half..
Harvesters didn't disappoint with all the boys raising their game further. Mahin was dynamic in midfield, supported by Sam and Max. Niall and the forwards were constantly putting the opposition under pressure. Eventually the pressure paid off when Owen set up James to slot in from the edge of the box.
At this stage Harvesters were in full control but an unfortunate own goal drew the visitors level with only 10 minutes left.
As the clock ticked down Flynn was fouled and Owen's free kick was pounced on by Mahin. He raced into the box and slotted home to give the home team a deserved 3-2 win.
