10 men shine to secure another league win

Despite having only 10 players Harvesters U13 East put in a great performance to secure their 3rd win on the trot, and 2nd league victory of the season.

The game was less than 30 seconds old when a quick break left Cameron in space to rifle into the roof of the net to make in 1 nil.

Within another 5 minutes some lovely build up play found Sam on the edge of the box. Some neat footwork saw the ball moved to the left and a lovely curling shot beat the keeper to put East 2 nil up.

The defence were solid with Flynn and Joe bossing the central position. Owen and Joseph Kilpatrick offered great support to Oscar at full back to enable the ball to be played forward quickly.

During the first half the goals kept coming with James bagging a hat-rick to put the team 5 nil up by the break.

The first was a nice finish around the keeper when clean through, the 2nd was a shot that the keeper found too hot to handle, and the third was a firm finish at the far post after the keeper fumbled an earlier shot.

Throughout the first half the boys were playing some neat and attractive football. At half time they were reminded to ignore the score and use the next half as an opportunity to develop their passing and movement. This message was well received and the boys did not disappoint. The first 20 minutes of the 2nd half saw even more confident use of the ball, starting with Oscar, the defence and right the way through the team.

Niall did well occupying the Alexandra Park defence and perhaps not surprisingly, as the game wore on, and tiredness set in, the boys found it more difficult to hold their shape resulting in growing pressure from Alexandra Park.

The away team finally scored to make it 5 - 1. But straight away Harvesters restored the difference when Max beautifully poked in from the edge of the box.

Alexandra Park again tightened the screw taking advantage of the fatigue now setting in within the Harvesters team. Two late goals gave them hope but the whistle thankfully blew leaving Harvesters 6 - 3 winners.

Each week the boys are taking more responsibility and passing the ball with more confidence and this week was the best we've seen so far this season.

The boys served up a treat for their mums and dads today and should ne really proud of their efforts.
