Harvesters power to victory

Harvesters put in a great shift to overcome London Maccabi Lions 8 -2 in a friendly at Rowley Lane. The conditions were not very pleasant and whilst the boys mostly ignored them the parents sought refuge in a tiny dugout behind the goal!!

The boys competed well for the first 10 minutes whilst they adapted to the conditions. It's always good to see training ground practise work on the pitch, and this was demonstrated when Flynn Cairns and Max Tym did a quick "give and go" from a corner with Flynn smacking the return pass into the roof of the net.

Soon after Niall Watson chipped in a beautiful long range effort to make it 2 nil. Macabbi pulled a goal back before an ambulance made a brief appearance crossing on the pitch and creating a short lull in proceedings. A close range effort by Joseph Kilpatrick went over the bar but soon after Max Tym renewed our 2 goal advantage tapping in from a corner. But once more before the break Macabbi pulled a goal back to reduce the deficit.

Will Walker was resolute in goal, making some great saves and distributing the ball very well. Bobby Milner marshalled the defence superbly with Owen O Sullivan having his best game of the season so far.

The ambulance made its return journey over the pitch shortly into the 2nd half!

After this Harvesters energy and control started to show. Max Tym added a 4th before Max Smith scored a cracker, perfectly curling in a left footer from outside the box into the corner of the net.

By now Harvesters were completely dominating the game Flynn Cairns and Cameron Wilson attacking at will. Joe Burgess added a 6th smacking in a cross/shot from the edge of the box. Then Max Tym added the 7th and 8th as Maccabi really started to struggle.
