Before the game the boys were reminded how lucky they are to play for a Club with such great facilities. The first 15 minutes of this game was much tougher than they expected as they struggled to come to terms with the conditions. The grass was long and the surface wet and sticky. Despite the coaches requests to try and move the ball around the conditions simply wouldn't allow for it. Edmonton's strong centre forward scored first taking advantage of some slightly sloppy defending. At this stage the boys realised they would have to roll up their sleeves and compete more aggressively to get anything out of the game.
Midway through the half Cameron Wilson sneaked in to equalise and then again to put Harvesters 2 - 1 up. But the team had still not figured out a way to combat the Edmonton forward who finished again to bring the game back to 2 a piece.
Max Tym then shot Harvesters in front and Flynn Cairns fired in a long range free kick to put the visitors 4 -2 up at half time.
By now the team were more organised and they had found a way of dealing with the Edmonton attack. Nevertheless the boys fully understood that the first goal in the 2nd half would be critical to the outcome of the game.
That soon came courtesy of Cameron Wilson and Flynn Cairns who both scored again to put Harvesters 6-2 up.
That lead remained intact as Owen O'Sullivan heroically made a double block on the line to deny Edmonton.
As the home team tired the lead became unassailable. After some good work from Joseph Kilpatrick, Will Walker was in the right place to slot home for the 7th before Niall Watson cooly finished for an eighth. Two cracking goals finished the game, the first a long range chip form Joe Burgess and a pile driver from Flynn Cairns. Final score 10 -3.
A special mention to Bobby Milner for marshalling the defence so effectively in the 2nd half.
APOLOGIES IF I GOT ANY OF THE GOALS IN THE WRONG ORDER
