Harvesters U12 East put in an incredible performance narrowly going down 5 - 3 to Red Division team AC Finchley North in the County Cup. Harvesters were organised and disciplined the whole game giving Finchley no time to settle on the ball. Harvesters took an early lead through Max Tym and could have gone 2 nil up after a clearance off the line. But Finchley slowly came back into the game and took a 2 – 1 lead. Harvesters remained confident and deservedly pulled a goal back to level 2 - 2 just before half time. Niall Watson did some great work on the left to square the ball to Joe Burgess who struck a sweet half volley into the corner of the net. A defensive error a gave Finchley a 3 -2 lead at the break.
In the second half Harvesters work rate remained high and they continued to frustrate Finchley and created a number of chances of their own. The game remained 3 - 2 for most of the second half as both teams pushed for the win. Finchley scraped a 4 - 2 lead before Cameron Wilson popped up to make it 4 - 3 with 5 minutes left and left Finchley hanging on. A last minute goal as Harvesters pushed for the equaliser saw the game finish 5 - 3.
This was a great team performance. All over the pitch the boys remained organised and determined to win the ball and this performance will hopefully make the boys realise how good they can be.
