Lions away at Omnia Youth

Lions continued their positive start to the season with a thrilling game away at Omnia Youth.

Omnia started the brighter of the two sides and gave Lions an early wake up call by forcing a corner in the opening exchanges. After weathering the storm Lions settled into their normal game. Pressing high up the pitch Jake Oliver and Oliver Jones both managed to dispossess the opposition and create shooting opportunities up front. Oliver also put in a number of excellent crosses. As usual Hugh McConnell stayed strong in defence putting in a number of crucial challenges to thwart the oppositions attacks. Growing in confidence he was also able to run with the ball and cause the opposition damage with a shot at the end. Jack Burke dealt well with any shots that came his way as first half goal keeper. Lions ended the first half well using their pace and strength to good effect.

As the second half started, the Lions demonstrated their passing play. Some great movement between Jack Dracos and Thibaut Walker resulted in a superb effort on goal. Jack Armitt demonstrated his strength in the tackle with a stalwart performance at the back managing to also get forward and successfully deliver some of his trademark long shots. Jack Burke put in an energetic display in midfield managing to get forward and shoot. Some unselfish play from Jake Oliver up front allowed Jack Dracos to shoot to ensure that all of the Lions got on the scoresheet.
