So proud as 9v11

Harvesters U14 Girls were in league action away at local rivals St Albans City North.

With a reduced team of 9 up against 11 it was going to be hard work but the girls started well and had the better of the possession and forced the St Albans keeper to make a number of saves.

On 25 minutes Harvesters dropped to 8 players due to illness and while reorganising the defence St Albans scored to make it 1-0. Despite looking to equalise the score stayed 1-0 until half time.

Back up to 9 players for the second half and the girls looked strong. On 44 minutes Eliza Telford made a fantastic run up the right wing and crossed to Katie Leigh coming in off the left to shoot and score to level at 1-1.

On 51 minutes Rheilly Evans floated in a perfect corner which Katie Leigh headed home and it was 2-1 to Harvesters. The girls continued to press and were strong in midfield and defence stopping any counter attacks by St Albans.

On 64 minutes Rheilly Evans whipped in another corner which went straight in to make it 3-1. Three minutes later a St Albans goal kick went straight to Tatyana Barton, back from 8 weeks out with a broken toe, who settled herself and fired home to end the match 4-1 to Harvesters.

All 9 were fantastic and deserved the victory.
