Spring Cup victory
Harvesters U18 North kicked off the Spring Cup group stage away to St Albans City South who had a couple of ex team mates in their ranks.
Despite Harvesters having an early chance it was St Albans who took the lead on 4 minutes. The boys didn’t let the early goal affect them and took control playing some good football.
On 19 minutes Shai Coombs took a quick throw to Harry Ruane who crossed the ball along the six yard line for TJ Barton to fire home and equalise. The boys continued to dominate possession and spent most of the time in the opposition half.
It was 2-1 to Harvesters on 32 minutes when a floated free kick by Sam Mistry was volleyed into the box by Harry Ruane for Ben Spencer to calmly side foot home.
There was a third assist for Harry Ruane on 39 minutes when he out muscled the St Albans defender before crossing for TJ Barton to score his second to make it 3-1.
St Albans pulled a goal back from a well worked short corner just before half time.
The second half was similar with Harvesters playing the better football and controlling the game. On 66 minutes Ben Spencer put in a high corner which the St Albans keeper dropped only for Shai Coombs to gladly tap the ball in to make it 4-2.
There was a nervy finish after St Albans made it 4-3 with 8 minutes of normal time to play but the boys held out including the 6 minutes of stoppage time added.
A fantastic team performance by the boys.
