U18 North draw 2-2 with Enfield Town
By Richard Thornton
Dreadful conditions and outnumbered.
Harvesters U18 North were in league action away at Enfield Town on what was the worst pitch we have played on in our 10 years as a team. The conditions weren’t great either as there was a gale blowing across the pitch.
The boys played the first half 9v11 but despite this got off to a perfect start when Sam Mistry floated in a perfect free kick on 2 minutes for Zak Bensissi to storm in at the back post to volley home for his first goal for a couple of seasons.
Straight from the Enfield kick off the found Ryan Mason in goal who launched a drop kick down field and with wind assistance it bounced over the Enfield keeper to put Harvesters 2-0 up.
Enfield didn’t know what had hit them but gradually made the two man advantage count and began to find space. On 19 minutes a cross was deflected in to make it 2-1.
Half time came as did a 10th Harvesters player. We were now playing into the fierce wind and on 55 minutes Enfield equalised.
The boys held out with an immense rearguard defence and were still able to create chances on the break but the match ended in a draw and a well deserved point for the boys.
