U18 North beat Croxley 6-3
By Richard Thornton
Great start and controlled the match.
Having lost to Croxley twice this season once in the league and County Cup the boys knew they were a match for Croxley playing 11 v 11.
The boys got off to a perfect start when Harry Ruane volleyed home on 3 minutes to make it 1-0. Six minutes later Harry Ruane slotted a perfect through ball into the path of strike partner Reece Sandiford-Cam to beat the keeper and make it 2-0.
Croxley pulled one back on 21 minutes when the swirling wind helped the ball into the far corner. The set back didn’t affect the boys and they continued to press and have the majority of the possession.
On 38 minutes Stanley Maisey played the ball out to the left wing for Shaheel Coorjee to sprint from left back. Having won the ball Shaheel hit the post but Ben Spencer was on hand to hit home the rebound.
Three minutes before the half time break Reece Sandiford-Cam added a fourth when he took the ball around the keeper.
Croxley came out after the break looking to get back into the match and within five minutes had pulled the score back to 4-2 with a header from a corner.
On 56 minutes a move up the left was finished off by a Harry Ruane left foot shot after good work by Chris Rowe. It was 6-2 on 71 minutes when TJ Barton who was making great runs up the right wing took his shot well.
Zak Bensissi, deputising in goal, made some crucial saves including one with his head from a Croxley free kick. With 8 minutes to go the ball wasn’t cleared and Croxley made it 6-3.
The boys had plenty of chances but were unable to score again but deserved the win.
