Harrow Stars

'Belmont' in disguise!

The match against Harrow Stars was a real battle with a number of obstacles for us to overcome. We were under pressure from the start with them pressing us high up the pitch. Before the first ten minutes were gone Harrow were leading 1 to nil. After adjusting to the pitch and style of play Harrow were imposing we started to settle and the defence did magnificently well to maintain composure. The work rate by Cass and Kieron was supreme as they provided the outlets to Jack. Stefano stepped into a new role taking over midfield from the rock solid Dawson who had other marching orders this week. Stef made a strong impact and has proved his versatility in playing across the pitch the last two seasons. I was also extremely impressed with his and Leo’s Yellow Socks! It was not long in the making that we started to have our chances late in the first half. The break through finally came from Josh a few minutes before the half with a beautiful lob shot on the keeper just outside the box. It was just what the team needed before the half time whistle.

The second half started with us imposing our strength and style of play on Harrow. The play by Aiden was extremely impressive as he showed no fear on several encounters close to the spectators where he clashed with the opposition to win the ball and halt the attack. As the game started to open, the swift and agile left foot of Josh exploded into force with a powerful shot the opposing keeper could only helplessly try to stop. At that point, I firmly thought I may need to make a loan to his Dad to cover the money he is going to owe Josh this season with the way things are going. The momentum had turned our way and it was six minutes later that Joe came onto the back post from a cross to clinically close the door firmly shut on Harrow. He was in a perfect position and executed brilliantly. With the score now 3 to 1 the team was hungry for more goals. We pressed hard, but could not break through. The opposition keeper made some really fine saves to prevent us from scoring more. In summary, the boys worked hard and kept their composure after coming back from a one goal deficit. The team can take a lot of confidence that if they stick to their game, communicate and support each other as they did they can pull themselves out of difficult matches.
