St Albans City East v Harvesters Leopards U8s
City derby sees goals galore
A short trip to Highfield Park to play St Albans City East was the Leopard's assignment this week. The early morning rain did not deter the Leopard's hardcore on the sidelines nor the team as they put on an energetic display against their city neighbours.
The opening exchanges were fairly even with some powerful individual forays from the home side against some measured passing moves from the visitors resulting in a bonanza of goals, with Marcel Lukasik making the most of his forward role to score with several powerful strikes. If their are goals around, Bailey Holt won't be far from the action, and he put his name on the score sheet with a swift treble.
Joshua Allen swapped the keepers gloves for a forward role in the 2nd half and proved a threat - coming agonisingly close to finishing off a fine team move. A couple of good saves kept the Leopards at bay and wood work was also rattled several times. However more goals flowed with Josh Allen, Freddie Hill, Archie Young and a memorable long range head butt from Noah McConnell rounding off a good showing by the chaps under the stewardship of assistant manager Ian McConnell.
The game was played in a good spirit and refereed impeccably!
