The first game for the Under 7 Wolves had been eagerly anticipated by all the boys, and they did very well against a very strong AC Finchley team.

It was a beautiful day for football and, after nearly lining up against the under 8s on the pitch next door (!), the boys got to wear their Harvesters match shirt for the first time.

They were all very excited!

Playing up the slope in the first half, they always tried to pass the ball from the back and there were some really good moves up the field.

Alastair Parr always looked dangerous when he got the ball, Dillon Tank was always covering well and looking for good passes, and Jaye Braimoh showed some great skill on the ball.

James Trainor was excellent in defence in the first half and Sam Ball in goal reminded his manager of a young Neville Southall!

Finchley were a good team but, whoever was playing in defence, always put in their tackles, and the boys kept the game really close in the first half.

The second half saw the boys concede some goals, but they kept their heads up and always tried to pass the ball and put some good moves together.

Sonny Roache scored Harvesters Wolves first ever goal!! It was a great shot from distance to keep us in the game.

Finchley were doing well still, but the Wolves kept going and were more than matching them for most of the second half.

A great passing move from the back was started by Jamie McKenna with a clever pass. The ball went through three different players, before Ollie Byrne rifled a fantastic shot in with his left foot. Unstoppable!

A great game. It was a tough start for the Wolves but the boys showed really good promise.

They are able to play great football, they maybe need to work on their defensive positioning a bit more (!!), but all the signs are there for a good season.

Well done boys!
