U13 Girls win League Shield 8-0 against Garston Panthers
By Richard Thornton
End of season silverware and a great performance
Harvesters U13 Girls were in the final of the League Shield against Garston Panthers. The girls pressed from the kick off and were quickly on top unlucky not to have an early goal disallowed for a tight offside.
The girls were patient and kept possession of the ball and played their natural passing game forcing a corner on 13 minutes. Rheilly Evans crossed the ball finding Priya Crawford who passed to Mia Pullan to put the girls 1-0 up. Ten minutes later a run down the right wing by Lily Palmer saw her cross the ball to the waiting Ruby Evans to make it 2-0.
In her last game for the team Priya Crawford took the full force of a clearance in her face resulting in a nose bleed and something to remember. Half time came and the message was game management. Keep a clean sheet and the Shield would be ours.
The girls still pushed forward looking for more goals and on 37 minutes Rheilly Evans hit a volley from outside of the penalty area beating the keeper to making it 3-0. Within a minute it was 4-0 when Eliza Telford received the ball on the left side and weaved her way through the Garston defence to score a fine solo effort.
A superb through ball from Rheilly Evans on 47 minutes into the path of Mia Pullan was hit home to make it 5-0. On 52 minutes Eliza Telford ran with the ball again and passed to Hollie Thornton to score.
Five minutes later Hollie Thornton received the ball on the left wing and ran towards the penalty area shooting across the keeper with her left foot from outside the area to make it 7-0. With time running out Rheilly Evans took a short corner to Eliza Telford who made sure she passed to Priya Crawford who scored with her final touch for Harvesters. A fitting end to the match.
